Women's Basketball Preview: University of Idaho

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's basketball team begins conference play on Saturday, Dec. 28, against the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho at 3 p.m. (MST).

The game will feature live stats, video, and audio brought to you by Mark Liptak and KISU 91.1 with the pregame show starting approximately 20 minutes before game time.

Scouting Idaho
Idaho finished its 2018-19 season with an 22-12 overall record and a 16-4 record in conference to finish as Big Sky regular season champions. The Vandals would make it to the semifinals of the Big Sky tournament before falling 75-59 to Portland State. The team is led by 11th-year Head Coach Jon Newlee.

Over half of Idaho's team are underclassmen. Beyonce Bea, Gina Marxen, Natalie Klinker, Lizzy Klinker, Hailey Christopher, and Chayse Milne have all seen starts for the Vandals. 

Bea leads the team with 112 points, shooting 47-101 (.465) from the field and 13-38 (.342) from three. She also leads the team in rebounds with 56. Marxen is 35-101 (.308) from the floor and is the team's leading three-point shooter going 24-78 (.308) from three. The also leads the team in assists with 36. Natalie Klinker is 17-28 (.607) from field-goal range. Lizzy Klinker 43-88 (.489) from the floor while producing a second-best 51 boards. 

Christopher leads in blocks with nine and steals with nine. 

Idaho has recorded a 5-4 record so far in the 2019-20 season and will begin conference against Idaho State. Overall, the team is shooting 208-545 (.382) from the field, 68-248 (.274) from three, and 75-116 (.647) from the free-throw line.

The two team's last matched up on March 9, 2019, in Moscow ending in a 73-67 ISU victory. ISU scored 36 points in the paint and out-rebound Idaho, 34-26

ISU leads the all-time series 29-15. The Bengals have won seven of the last 10 and four of the last five meetings. Seton is 6-3 in his career vs. Idaho.

ISU leads the Big Sky in field-goal percentage with a .442 percentage and is second in three-point field goal percentage at .355. The Bengals lead the conference in assists with 151 for 16.8 per game.

Recap: Utah State
Idaho State shot 46 percent (25-55) from the field and went 5-10 from the free-throw line. Utah State was 24-26 from the free-throw line and shot 43 percent (20-47) from the floor. ISU was forced into 18 turnovers and recorded 26 fouls.
 
Tomekia Whitman led the ISU offense with a career-high 20 points, going 7-11 from the floor, 1-2 from three, and 5-6 from the free-throw line. Diaba Konate added 13 points for the Bengals, going 6-12 from  field goal range.
