POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team lost 7-5 to Northern Kentucky on Friday afternoon in the first game of the UC Riverside Tournament.
Idaho State had nine hits and committed one error while Northern Kentucky had 11 hits and one error.
Amber Arreola had three hits and one RBI. Six other Bengals had hits.
Shayna Dahlen was 1-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
Autumn Pease took the loss, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing seven runs, eight hits while striking out five and walking one.
Kelsea Sweeney pitched the final 2.2 innings and allowed three hits and no runs.
The Bengals led 4-0 after three innings and 5-2 after four innings.
Idaho State scored three runs in the first inning.
Emma Bordenkecher had an RBI double and Dahlen hit a two-run homer to left field.
Arreola singled home Bordenkecher in the third inning to give Idaho State a 4-0 lead.
NKU scored two runs in the top of the fourth and
Jayden DeMoss hit a homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. Northern Kentucky then scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the 7-5 lead.
