Bengals Drop 2 in Seattle

 
POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team lost 9-3 to Ohio State and 6-0 to No. 6 Washington on Saturday in Seattle, Wash. The Bengals had seven hits on the day, led by Emma Bordenkecher going 3-6 with one RBI and Jayden DeMoss going 2-4.

"We finally started stringing hits together and played more aggressively," Idaho State coach Candi Letts said. "We competed today and it was great to see."

Against Ohio State, Autumn Pease took the loss, pitching six innings, allowing eight hits, six runs and striking out four.

The Bengals trailed 4-0 after the top of the sixth inning. ISU put two runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth. MaKenzie Van Sickle and Bordenkecher led off with back-to-back singles to right field.

Courtney Wiley would drive in the first run on a sacrifice fly RBI and DeMoss singled home the next run on a two-out single to right.

Ohio State scored five runs in the top of the seventh and the Bengals added a run in the bottom of the seventh thanks to an RBI double by Bordenkecher.

Against Washington, Bordenkecher had the Bengals only hit of the game. Washington scored four runs in the third, one in the fourth inning and one in the sixth.

Kelsea Sweeney suffered the loss. She pitched 3.1 innings, allowed three hits, five runs, eight walks and struck out one.

Mariah Mulcahy tossed the final 2.2 innings and allowed only one hit while walking two and striking out two.

Idaho State concludes the Washington Husky Classic at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 against No. 6 Washington.
