Game 3 Preview: Bengals Prepare for No. 8/9 Northern Iowa

POCATELLO, Idaho-  The Idaho State football team travels to No. 8/9 Northern Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is ast 3 p.m. (MST). The game will be televised on ESPN+ while Jerry Miller and Mark Liptak will call the game on 102.5 KMGI. For information on how to follow the game online log onto isubengals.com. This is the second straight week the Bengals have played a nationally ranked team. Last week No. 11 Utah beat ISU 31-0. 

Series vs. Northern Iowa
Northern Iowa leads the series 2-0. UNI beat Idaho State 44-10 on Sept. 22, 1990 in Pocatello and then lost 49-11 to No. 3 UNI in Cedar Falls. 

About Northern Iowa
Northern Iowa averages 30 points a game and gives up 21.5 points. The Northern Iowa offense averages 69.5 rushing yards and 245 passing yards for 314.5 yards of total offense. The Northern Iowa defense allows 143 rushing yards and 202 passing yards. Trevor Allen is the top running back with 32 carries for 103 yards. Quarterback, Will McElvain has completed 42 passes on 67 attempts and four touchdowns. Wide Receivers Isaiah Weston has seven receptions for 153 yards and one touchdown while Deion McShane has 15 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Spencer Cuvelier leads the defense with 25 tackles. 

Bengal Bites
- The last time Idaho State played another FCS team in nonconference play was Sept. 18, 2008. The Bengals lost 38-35 at home to North Dakota. 
- Idaho State's last two wins over ranked teams were at North Dakota. The Bengals beat No. 22 UND 25-21last year in Grand Forks and in 2015, the Bengals beat No. 23/25 UND 37-31. 
- Idaho State's last win over a Top 10 team was 34-30 vs. No. 5 Eastern Washington in Holt Arena. Since that game the Bengals are 0-14 against teams ranked in the Top 10. Idaho State has never beaten a Top 10 team on the road. 

Notes From Game 2 at Utah 
- Luke Holloway had a career-high six tackles.
- Raemo Trevino had a career-high three tackles. 
- Jay Irvine had a career-high three tackles. 
- Kody Graves had 13 tackles, one tackle away from is career-high of 14. 
- Austin Campbell had a career-high four reception. 
- Ty Flanagan moved into eighth place in the Idaho State record book for career rushing yards. His 46 yards at Utah gives him 1,700. James Madison is in seventh place with 2,104 yards. 
- 31 points scored by the Utes is the fewest points Idaho State has given up against a Power 5 team. 
- Utah led 24-0 at halftime and only scored one touchdown with 7:51 left in the third quarter.
