POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team begins the 2019 season on Thursday, Sept. 5 vs. Western Colorado. Kickoff is at 6:35 p.m. in Holt Arena. Live stats, video and audio are available at isubengals.com. Jerry Miller and Mark Liptak will call the game live on 102.5 KMGI and the game can be viewed on Pluto TV Channel 543. 

About Western Colorado 
Western Colorado, formerly known as Western State, is a Division II school in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Last year they finished with a 2-9 record.  Western Colorado was picked 10th in the preseason conference polls.

Bengals vs. Non Division 1 Teams 
Since 1999, ISU is 21-1 vs. non-Division I teams. The Bengals only loss was 33-22 to Central Washington in 2009.

Bengals in Season Openers
Since 1990 Idaho State has opened the season against a Non Division I team or an FBS team every year but 1990, 1995 and 2005. All three of the years resulted in wins by the Bengals, beating SUU in 1990 and 2005 and Cal Poly in 1995. Idaho State has opened the season against a Non-Division 1 team 15 times and an FBS team 11 times. Idaho State is 15-0 in those season-openers vs. Non-Division I teams. The last loss to a Non-Division I team in a season opener was 52-51 to Texas A&I in 1987. 
 
Preseason All-Conference
Mitch Gueller, Kody Graves and Adkin Aguirre were named to the Big Sky Conference Preseason Team. Gueller has earned first-team all-conference the last two seasons. In 2018 he caught 62 passes for 1,259 yards and nine touchdowns.

Graves earned third-team all-conference last year while finishing second on the team in tackles with 83. He had two interceptions and one sack.

Aguirre finished third on the team in tackles with 77 and he had a team-best three interceptions. He earned honorable mention all-conference as a starting safety.

The Idaho State football team was picked seventh by the coaches and media in the preseason polls.
