Scouting Portland State
The Vikings have a young roster that includes one sole senior and six freshmen. The projected starters are Tatiana Streun, Desirae Hansen, Kylie Jimenez, Jordan Stotler, and Belle Frazier. Four of the Vikings' five starters average over ten points a game.

Streun is No. 16 in the nation in free-throws made (77) and No. 57 in free-throw percentage (.837). She is second in the Big Sky in free-throw percentage and third in rebounds with 129 averaging 8.1 per game. She is also third in scoring with 14.3 points per game. The redshirt junior recorded a career-high 30 points against Montana on Jan. 13. She leads the Vikings in field-goal percentage, 73-133 (.549).

Hansen is shooting 76-168 (.452) from the floor, 24-55 (.436) from three, and .767 from the free-throw line to average a team-second best 13.1 points per game. She tosses a team-second best 4.2 assists per game.

Although Jimenez can shoot it herself: 65-171 (.380) from field-goal range, 28-78 (.359) from beyond the three-point arc, and 31-35 (.886) from the free-throw line, she isn't afraid to share as she leads the Vikings and is fourth in the Big Sky in assists with 69 for 4.3 per game. She also leads the team and is fifth in the conference in steals with 2.1 per game.

Stotler nearly had a triple-double against Montana, finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds and eight assists – not to mention her six blocks in the game. It continued a strong run of play for Stotler, who has averaged 13.25 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 blocks in the Vikings' past four games. The senior leads the conference and ranks fifth in the nation with 3.3 blocks per game for a total of 53, including a program record-tying nine against then-No. 23 Tennessee on Dec. 21. Additionally, Stotler has moved into sixth on the all-time blocks list at Portland State with 99 now in her career. Frazier leads the team in three-pointers made with 29 while averaging 9.6 points per game.

PSU, who was picked third in both the coaches' pre-season poll and by the media, has tallied a 9-7 record so far in the 2019-20 season and is 3-3 in the Big Sky. They have had a roller coaster of a season, starting off going 1-3 before winning five straight, then losing three straight, and has now won three of their last four games before heading to Pocatello. Overall, the team is producing 71.4 points per game while shooting 395-973 (.406) from the field, a conference second-best 113-306 (.369) from three, and is leading the conference in free-throw percentage, 240-299 (.803).

Portland State is also second in the Big Sky in blocked shots with 73, averaging 4.6 per game.

The Vikings were the Big Sky conference tournament champions last season for the first time since 2010, finishing their 2018-19 season with an 25-8 overall record and a 14-6 conference finish. They went on to fall to No. 2 Oregon, 78-40, in the NCAA tournament. The team is led by fifth-year Head Coach Lynn Kennedy. Kennedy and the 2018-19 Vikings also made history while going 25-8 overall, the most wins in a season during the program's Big Sky era. The Vikings also tied Big Sky era records for home wins (14) and Big Sky wins (14), and set a new Big Sky era record for road winning percentage (.615).

ISU walked away with two victories over PSU in last season's match-ups. The last meeting ended in a 72-54 Bengal victory on Feb. 21, 2019, in Pocatello. Idaho State held the Vikings to 19 second half points while five Bengals recorded double figure points. The Vikings went 18-22 from the free throw line but the Bengals were able to match that by going 11-19 from beyond the arc. ISU also has 26 points off 15 PSU turnovers.

ISU leads the all-time series, 37-20, winning 16 straight games vs. PSU. Head Coach Seton Sobolewski is 17-5 in his career vs. Portland State.
