Bengals Drop Contest in Bozeman 67-59

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team dropped its contest at Montana State 67-59 Saturday afternoon In Bozeman.

The Bobcats shot 43 percent from the field, 14 percent from the three and went 13-17 from the free-throw line. The Bengals shot 44 percent from the field, 27 percent from the three and 5-8 from the free throw line.

The difference maker in the game came on the glass with the Bobcats out rebounding the Bengals 38-31 with 14 of those rebounds being offensive.

"Coming out to Montana is always tough. It's a tough place to play in," said Assistant Coach Jasmine Stohr. "Montana State did a good job of disrupting some things but if you watched we had a lot of good looks. We had things going to the basket and open threes. I thought we did good offensively."

Idaho State trailed 13-10 after the first quarter.

The Bengals ended the second quarter hitting three of four field goals to cut the Bobcat lead to 29-24 at halftime.

Idaho State was 11-25 from the field in the first half, led by Callie Bourne's seven points on three of five field goals. Montana Oltrogge led the team at half with three boards.  

During the second half the Bengals pulled to within three points but couldn't close the gap as the Bobcats pulled away in the fourth.

Bourne led the team with 15 points on 6-12 shooting. Dora Goles finished with 13 points.

Whitman finished the game going 6-7 from the field for 12 points.

Bourne had five boards followed by Ellie Smith, Diaba Konate and Delaney Moore with four boards a piece.

Next week, the Bengals are back home to host the University of Northern Colorado on Thursday Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. and Southern Utah University on Saturday Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. in Reed Gym.
