POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women's basketball team begins the second half of conference play on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m.(MST) and Southern Utah in Reed Gym.

Scouting Southern Utah
Southern Utah's projected starters are Rebecca Cardenas, Harley Hansen, Shalyn Fano, Ashley Larsen, and Jessica Chatman.
Cardenas has consistently led the Big Sky conference this season in scoring with 17.2 points per game, shooting a conference sixth-best .421 from the field. She also leads the BSC in steals (44 - 2.4 pg) while ranking second in assists (91 - 5.06 pg) and fourth in free-throw percentage (.780). The senior put up 18-points against the Bengals earlier this season while recording five steals.
Hansen follows Cardenas with 14.4 points per game, shooting a team-high and conference third-best .470 from the floor. She recorded 13 points and five boards against the Bengals in their first meeting this season.
Fano was ISU's biggest threat in January, scoring a team-best 22 points, going 8-13 from field-goal range and 4-6 from three while grabbing a team-best eight boards.Â
Larsen added eight points for SUU in January's match-up while Chatman was held to just two.
SUU, who was picked ninth in the coaches' pre-season poll and tenth by the media, has tallied a 10-8 record so far in the 2019-20 season and is 4-5 in the Big Sky. The T-Birds currently sit seventh in the Big Sky standings, just one place behind ISU.
Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Southern Utah has struggled to win on the road recording a 14-9 at home record and just a  3-21 away record.
Overall, the team is producing 71.8 points per game while shooting 458-1103 (.415) from the field and 129-366 (.352) from three. SUU is third in the Big Sky in three-point field-goal percentage (.352), steals (161 - 8.94 pg), and fourth in scoring offense (71.8 ppg). The team is led by second-year Head Coach Tracy Sanders.Â
The two teams matched-up earlier this season resulting in a 72-65 SUU overtime victory on Jan. 9Â in Cedar City, Utah. The Bengals had a 10 point lead with 4:30 left to go in the game and failed to score a point the rest of the way. SUU held ISU to a 9:30 minute drought through the final minutes of the fourth quarter into overtime while going on a 23-5 run to take the victory away from the Bengals. All five ISU starters scored in double figures led by
Ellie Smith with 12. The Thunderbirds scored 21 points off 19 ISU turnovers.
ISU leads the all-time series 37-14, winning seven of the last 10 and four of the last five meetings. Head Coach

The Bengals are ranking third in assists (286- 15.1 per game), scoring defense (61.5 ppg), and field-goal percentage defense (.380).
Callie Bourne is fourth in the BSC in field-goal percentage (.468), sixth in rebounds (136 - 7.2 pg) and fourth in defensive boards (107 - 5.6 pg).
Dora Goles is third in steals (42 - 2.2 pg), fourth in 3-pointers made (42) and ninth in assists (65 - 3.4 pg).

Trends
Bourne has recorded double-digit points the last eight games and has reached double-digit points in all but four games this season. Goles had produced double-digits in six of ten conference games while Konate follows with double-digits in four conference games.Â

Idaho State shot 41 percent from the floor while holding the Bears to just 28 percent. The Bengals shot a season-high 67 percent (6-9) from beyond the three-point arc against UNC's eight percent (1-13). The Bears were aggressive on the boards, grabbing 41 boards to combat ISU's 35.
Callie Bourne led ISU with 16 points in her eighth consecutive double-digit point game. Bourne and Goles each had six boards while Goles recorded a season-high six assists.
Montana Oltrogge followed with 11 points, eight coming in the fourth quarter.
