The Idaho State women's basketball team is on the road this week to compete against Northern Arizona on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. (MST) in Flagstaff, Ariz. and Sacramento State on Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. (MST) in Sacramento, Calif. 

The games will feature live stats, video, and audio brought to you by Mark Liptak and KISU 91.1. The pregame show will begin approximately 20 minutes before game time.

Scouting Northern Arizona
The projected starters for NAU are Khiarica Rasheed, Nina Radford, Caitlin Malvar, Jacey Bailey, and Lauren Orndoff.

Rasheed ranks second in the Big Sky in scoring with 16 points per game, shooting a conference-best .508 from the field. The junior led the Lumberjacks with 25 points and seven boards against the Bengals earlier this season after going 10-14 from the field and 4-6 from the free-throw line. 

Radford ranks seventh in the conference in scoring with 13.7 points per game while shooting an impressive .854 from the free-throw line and a team-high .453 from three. Against ISU, Radford put up nine points and a team-high four assists. 

Malvar leads the Big Sky in assists, tossing 5.3 per game, and assist/turnover ratio at 2.56. She leads NAU in steals with 1.5 per game. ISU held the redshirt junior to just six points in January while she secured three of NAU's seven steals.

Bailey was also a threat against ISU earlier this season, scoring 13 points and matching Rasheed's seven boards while also recording two steals, three blocks, and three assists. The redshirt junior averages 13.5 points per game, 6.4 boards per game, and is shooting a conference fourth-best .407 from field-goal range while leading NAU in three-pointers made (42) and three-point attempts (122) for a .334 average from three.

Althrough Orndoff is shooting .429 from the field, .310 from three, and .833 from the free-throw line, the Bengals held her to just four points in January.

NAU, who was picked eighth in both the coaches' pre-season poll and by the media, has tallied a 11-9 record so far in the 2019-20 season and is 8-3 in the Big Sky. The Lumberjacks currently sit third in the Big Sky standings.

Overall, the team is producing a conference-high 73.7 points per game while shooting 538-1254 (.429) from the field and 140-386 (.363) from three. NAU currently leads the Big Sky in scoring offense, defensive rebounds (29.2 pg) and assists (16.2 pg) while finishing second in field-goal percentage and third in three-point field-goal percentage and free-throw percentage (.739). 

As of Feb. 2, NAU ranks nationally in several categories: No. 27 in three-point field-goal percentage (.364), No. 37 in scoring offense (73.8 ppg), and No. 43 in assists per game (15.8). The team is led by third-year Head Coach Loree Payne. 

History
The two teams matched-up earlier this season on Jan. 11 in Pocatello, resulting in a 70-59 NAU victory.  The Bengals blew out a 21-7 lead as NAU scored 21 straight unanswered points. ISU only led 31-30 at halftime and in the second half the Lumberjacks took control. They scored 32 points in the paint. Rasheed was unstoppable inside scoring 25 points, fouling out Ellie Smith on 10-14 shooting. For the second straight year, NAU shot the ball well in Reed Gym finishing the game shooting 49 percent. Callie Bourne led ISU with 16 points.

ISU leads the all-time series 41-30, winning three of the last five and six of the last 10 meetings. Head Coach Seton Sobolewski is 16-6 in his career against the Lumberjacks.

Bourne is sixth in rebounds (143 - 7.2 pg) and fourth in defensive boards (114 - 5.7 pg). Dora Goles is fourth in steals (43 - 2.2 pg), fifth in 3-pointers made (45) and ninth in assists (66 - 3.3 pg). Ellie Smith is fourth in blocked shots (36).

Trends
Bourne has recorded double-digit points the last nine games and has reached double-digit points in all but four games this season. Goles has produced double-digits in seven of 11 conference games while Diaba Konate follows with double-digits in four conference games. 

The Bengals have out-rebounded their opponents in all but six of their 20 games so far this season.

Recap: UNC
A solid first half by the Idaho State women's basketball team propelled the Bengals to a 73-54 win over Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon at Reed Gym.
 
ISU shot 47 percent the field and held Southern Utah to 31 percent shooting. Idaho State was 9-21 from the three-point line while the T-Birds were held to 3-14 shooting from beyond the arc. The Bengal defense forced 14 SUU turnovers while winning the battle of the boards 39-29. Idaho State had 18 assists, led by Konate's six. Goles led the Bengal scoring with 20 points on 7-11 shooting. Tomekia Whitman had 12 points and Bourne added her ninth-consecutive double digit game with 10 points and seven rebounds.
