Bengals Host Final Conference Game in Battle of the Domes

 Idaho State women's basketball hosts its final conference game of the season against Idaho in the ICCU Battle of the Domes on Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.

The game will feature live stats, video streaming, and audio brought to you by Mark Liptak and KISU 91.1. The pregame show will begin approximately 20 minutes before game time. 

The Bengals have clinched a third place finish in the Big Sky and a first round bye in the conference Tournament.

Scouting Idaho
Idaho is 19-9 on the season with a 14-5 record in conference play. The Vandals have clinched a second place finish in the Big Sky.

Overall, the team is producing 66.1 points per game while shooting 679-1721 (.389) from the field, 219-738 (.297) from three and 293-434 (.675) from the free-throw line. 

The Vandals lead the conference in scoring defense (59.5 ppg) and field-goal percentage defense (.364). They rank second in three point field-goal defense (.291), assist/turnover ratio (1.18), and defensive boards per game (28.4). UI is third in scoring margin (+6.61), blocked shots (3.89), defensive rebound percentage (.716), and three point field-goals made (8.0 pg). 

Gina Marxen, Lizzy Klinker, Beyonce Bea, Natalie Klinker, and Champney Pulliam have seen the most starts in conference play for the Vandals. 

Marxen is fourth in the Big Sky in scoring (13.9 ppg) and leads the conference in three-pointers made (3.1 pg) and assist/turnover ratio (2.5). Bea, who is 8th in the conference in scoring, and Marxen each put up 16 points against ISU earlier this season. Marxen was 4-8 from three in the game while Bea added seven boards to her stat line.

Allison Kirbey added 12 points against ISU with a team-high nine boards. Pulliam did not see action against the Bengals.

N. Klinker is 7th in the Big Sky in rebounds (7 pg) followed by her sister L. Klinker who sits 9th (6.7 pg).

History
The two teams matched-up earlier this season on Dec. 28 in Moscow where Idaho won in a close 62-56 contest. A big second period by Idaho broke the game open as they outscored the Bengals 21-12 to take control. ISU outscored the Vandals 17-7 in the third quarter but it wasn't enough to combat Idaho's shooting. UI went 16-22 from the line against ISU's 7-14 from the free throw line.

Diaba Konate had 16 points to lead ISU; she was the only player in double figures.   

Idaho leads the all-time series, 30-15. ISU has won six of the last 10 and three of the last five. Head Coach Seton Sobolewski is 6-4 in his career vs. Idaho.

Goles is tied with Bourne for 12th in scoring (12.5 ppg), 3rd in 3-pointers made (65), fourth in steals (2.1 pg), and 13th in assists (3.2 pg). Ellie Smith is 5th in blocked shots (49). Diaba Konate ranks 12th in assists (3.4 pg) and fifth in steals (1.8 pg). 

Trends
Bourne has recorded double figure points 16-19 conference games while Goles has produced double-digit points in 14 confernce games with a career-high 36 points against Montana on Feb. 15. Konate follows with double-digits in eight conference games including a career-high 32 points against NAU on Feb. 6. 

The Bengals are 9-2 the last eleven games.

ISU defeated Eastern Washington, 77-49, on Wednesday night in Reed Gym.
 
The Bengals finished the game shooting 50 percent from the floor and 42 percent from three to combat the Eagles' 45 percent from the field goal range while holding them to just 27 percent from beyond the three point arc. ISU outrebounded EWU, 36-25, while scoring 21 points off of 18 Eastern turnovers.
 
Montana Oltrogge led ISU in her second-consecutive 19 point game to tie her career-high. Goles finished with 18 points followed by Delaney Moore with 13. Oltrogge and Moore each tied their career-high in steals with three.
 
Konate tossed a career-high seven assists.
