POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team led by as many as 23 points as they took down the Hornets of Sacramento State 69-57 Thursday night. Delaney Moore led the Bengals with a career high double-double 11 points and 15 rebounds.
With 7:34 left to play in the first quarter, the Hornets hit a three pointer to take a 5-4 lead. Moore, on what would prove to be a career night, quickly responded with a field goal to retake a 6-5 lead. The Bengals never looked back as they ended the quarter with a 22-15 lead.
The Bengals held the lead throughout the second quarter thanks in part to a staunch defense. Idaho State held the Hornets to three-of-16 shooting from the field and grew its lead to 17 points with 21 seconds left as Montana Oltrogge hit a pair of free throws to make the score 43-26.
The third quarter saw the Bengals get their biggest lead of the game. With 3:24 left in the period, Estefania Ors hit a jumper to grow the lead to 55-32 and the period ended on a made three by Ors for the Bengals to take a 60-42 lead going into the fourth.
With 4:49 left in the fourth, Moore hit a second-chance layup to give the Bengals a 19 point 65-46 lead and secure her second career double-double. The Orange and Nlack held on for the rest of the game ending with a 12 point 69-57 victory.
Four Bengal ended the game with double digit points. Ors led the team with 13 points. Moore, Diaba Konate and Oltrogge each scored 11.
Following Moore's double-double, Callie Bourne and Ellie smith also had double-digit boards grabbing 10 and 11 respectively. Altogether the Bengal post players accounted for 36 of 56 rebounds.
The Bengals also had 13 steals, led by Konate's four.
