POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women's basketball team defeated the Portland State VIkings 70-62 to remain undefeated in Big Sky play. The Bengals held onto their lead for the entire game and fought off a fourth quarter surge from the Vikings.
Throughout the first quarter the Bengals consistently maintained a 10 point lead over Portland State. To end the quarter,
Dora Goles made a buzzer beater jumper to increase Idaho State's lead to 21-9.
During the second quarter, the Orange and Black held onto their lead thanks to strong shooting by
Callie Bourne who was 5-6 from the field in the first half. While the Vikings outscored the Bengals 16-10 the Bengals still ended the half up 31-25.
The Bengals outscored Portland State 24-23 in the third quarter. The period ended with
Delaney Moore sinking two free throws after a foul during her rebound. Idaho State still led 55-48 at the end of the third.
In the final period, the Bengals held off the Vikings to secure the victory. PSU cut the Bengal lead to six at 68-62 with 25 seconds left in the game. Bourne ended the game with two made free throw shots bringing the score to 70-62.
Idaho State finished the game shooting 48.2 percent on 27-of-56 field goals. Portland State out-rebounded the Bengals 43-37.
Five Bengals ended the game with double digit points. Bourne led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds. Moore earned a season high of 14 points. Goles followed with 13,
Ellie Smith and
Montana Oltrogge ended with 10.
