POCATELLO, Idaho - Two players from the Idaho State men's tennis team claimed singles titles at the Utah Invitational over the weekend to finish off their fall season.
One player from each team at the Invite: Utah, Utah State, Montana, Montana State, Weber State, and Idaho State were put into a draw that was played in round-robin format. There were six total singles draws and three doubles draws.
Wikus Robbertse went undefeated in the position six Running Utes draw to win his flight. His five singles wins at the tournament propelled Robbertse to end his fall season with an eight match winning streak and a 12-4 overall singles record on the season.
Andreas Kramer came out on top to claim the championship title of the White draw. Kramer won three of five singles matches at position three to win his flight. Kramer picked up wins over in-conference opponents Weber State and Montana as well as over Pac-12 Utah.
Ege Cankus tied for second in the position five Swoop draw going 3-2 in singles, defeating Utah State, Weber State, and Montana. In doubles play, Cankus and Robbertse teamed up to pick up a win over Montana State.
Kramer and Patrick Kristensen went 3-2 together in doubles matches, earning wins over Utah State, Weber State and Montana to put them in third place in the Doubles 1 draw. Kristensen played in the position two Black draw in singles and claimed a win over Utah State.
Patrik Trhac and Hiroki Fujita both had a 2-3 record on the weekend in singles play. Trhac played in the position one Red draw while Fujita played in the position four Grey draw.
As a team, the Bengals defeated in conference opponents Weber State and Montana 4-2 as well as Mountain West opponent Utah State 4-2 overall in singles matches.
The Utah Invitational tournament concludes the Bengals fall season campaign. The Bengals return to action in the spring for their conference season.
