Bengals Set for Home and Home Series with Montana State

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball returns home to Pocatello this week for a home and home series with the Montana State Bobcats. Game one will be in Reed Gym on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. and Game two will be in Bozeman on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 12 p.m.

Thursday's game against the Bobcats will be the Bengal's annual Pink Game, the team will be playing in support of the Play4Kay foundation.

The last game with the Bobcats ended with a 74-55 Idaho State loss.

The Bengals finished the game shooting 47 percent from the field and 36 percent from three against the Vikings' 40 percent from field-goal range and 31 percent from three. Each team grabbed 35 boards and 10 steals.
 
The Bobcats went 16-20 from the free-throw line while the Bengals were just 3-3. Both teams combined for 38 turnovers.


The leading scorers for the Bengals were Callie Bourne with 17, Dora Goles with 14 and Diaba Konate with 10. Those were the only players for ISU to score in double-digits. Bourne's 17-point game marked her 12th consecutive double-digit game.

Idaho State trailed for most of the game except for an early 2-0 lead. The Bengals struggled to find their offensive chemistry and had trouble stopping Montana State.

The Bobcats took a 10-point lead early in the second quarter and extended that lead to 20 points at 55-35 with 3:18 left in the third quarter. They would go up by as much as 25 points in the fourth quarter.

Bengal Bites

·        At 15-2 ISU has guaranteed themselves a winning season regardless of what happens the rest of the way. It is the 9th time in 13 years under Seton Sobolewski they've done this.

·        The 9-0 start at home is the best home start since the 2010-11 team started the year 10-0 at Reed Gym. They'd finish the year 12-1 at home.

·        In the last 12 games Delaney Moore and Ellie Smith have combined for 200 points and 128 rebounds out of the post. That's an average of 16.6 points and 10.6 rebounds a game. Ellie is now in 10th place all-time in blocked shots with 88. She needs six more to tie Nicole Davis for 9th place with 94. Davis played from 1993-1996.  

·        Estefania Ors has scored 1,253 points. She needs seven more to pass Charly Bond,1976-1980, to move into 9th place on the all-time scoring list. She needs 19 more made field goals to pass Lynn Henderson for 10th place on the all-time list.

·        Dora Goles has passed Devin Diehl, 2006-2010, for 9th place all-time in made three-points shots at 125. Saylair Grandon 2015-2019, is 8th on the list with 130. Dora also needs one rebound for 300 in her career.

Last Game Recap: vs Idaho

The Idaho State women's basketball team dropped the second Battle of the Domes game to the University of Idaho 73-56. 

The Bengals controlled the first half of the game, shooting 32 percent on 17-of-34 from the field. The half ended with a Bengals 40-30 lead.

The Vandals came back in the second half, outscoring the Bengals 43-16 on 12-of-23 shooting from the field. The Bengals were 0-8 from behind the three-point line in the second half.

Diaba Konate led the team in scoring with 12 points. Dora Goles and Delaney Moore followed with 10 points each. The Bengals outscored the Vandals in the paint 28-20.

Callie Bourne grabbed 11 rebounds and Moore led the team in O-boards with four.

The Bengals out stole the Vandals  6-5.
