POCATELLO, IDAHO- The Idaho State women's basketball team took down the University of Montana 72-56, Saturday in Missoula, Mont. to sweep the Grizzlies.
"We did a good job playing with energy and knocking down open shots," said Head Coach
Seton Sobolewski.
Montana took an early lead in first seven minutes of the game. A steal and a layup by
Callie Bourne at 3:17 tied the game at 14 and a layup by
Montana Oltrogge gave the Bengals the lead with 1:01 left to go in the quarter. Idaho State ended the first quarter 16-14.
The Bengals continued their momentum into the second quarter.
Diaba Konate capped off a 13-0 run with a jumper at 7:58, extending Idaho State's lead to 23-14. The second quarter ended 44-33.
At the six-minute mark, Oltrogge made her third three of the night. The Bengals finished the quarter leading, 53-42. Idaho State fought off a late push by Montana in the fourth to earn the 72-56 victory.
"Callie had another great game," said Sobolewski. "She was focused and ready to play."
Bourne led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds, she shot 70 percent from the field. Oltrogge followed with 13 points and four rebounds, she shot 71.4% from the field. Ors made four threes earning her 12 points.
"Montana, coming off the bench, made a big difference for us with her shooting and rebounding," said Sobolewski. "Estefi was Estefi… great shooter with a solid presence on the floor."
Idaho State shot 46.2 percent from the field and outrebounded the Grizzlies 34-30.
The Bengals will be back in action Wednesday, March 3rd to take on Eastern Washington in a two-game series to finish off the regular season.
