Bengals Beat Vikings; Advances to Semi-Finals



 

BOISE, Idaho- The Idaho State women's basketball program is in the Big Sky Conference semi-finals for the 16th time in program history. The top seeded Idaho State Bengals beat Portland State 66-50 on Tuesday morning at ICCU Arena in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference tournament. The win gives ISU a 20-3 record. It is the seventh time in program history the team has won 20 games or more, four of those during Coach Sobolewski's tenure. 

The Bengal defense held the Vikings to 29.3 percent shooting while the ISU offense shot 54.9 percent from the field.

Delaney Moore led the offensive attack with 18 points on 8-10 shooting from the field. Montana Oltroggee had 12 points and four rebounds and Dora Goles had 10 points. The Bengals out rebounded Portland State 35-27 and was led by eight from Callie Bourne.

Idaho State led the entire game and led by as many as 25 points in the fourth quarter.

The Bengals led 30-15 at halftime. Idaho State was 8-12 from the field in the second and third quarters while PSU was held to 13.3 percent shooting the second quarter on 2-15 shooting from the field.

Idaho State plays No. 4 seeded Northern Colorado or No. 5 seeded SUU Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the semi-finals. The Bengals have advanced to six Big Sky tournament championship games.
