Alexander Free continues to build a young program in Pocatello with the addition of Zachary Matuszak, a four-star recruit from Oak Mountain, Alabama. Zachary, a graduate of Oak Mountain High School reached a career high of #1 in the state of Alabama and is ranked No. 105 in his recruiting class.
"I am excited to have Zach join our program and I am looking forward to working with him in the fall.'' said Free. "He is a great kid who brings tremendous energy, a positive attitude and has a lot of room to grow as a player in our program. We are excited to welcome some of our great young American talent to Pocatello."
Matuszak, who is the highest ranked player from the United States to join the Bengals, has a career-high Universal Tennis Rating of 10.91.
"I chose Idaho State because of Coach Free's enthusiasm to compete in the NCAA's.", said Matuszak. "I can't wait for the upcoming season and to start competing as a Bengal!"
Matuszak is joining a Bengal squad loaded with young talent. The Bengals return five of the eight players from the squad who reached the Big Sky Conference finals for the first time since 2001. In addition to Matuszak, the 2021-2022 Bengal squad will feature three new faces in Ethan Lye, Patrick Kristensen, and Andreas Kramer.
