POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball returns home for Homecoming weekend to take on a pair of surging Big Sky Conference opponents.
First, the Bengals meet up with the first-place Portland State Vikings Thursday at 7:00 PM in Reed Gym. Then, the Sacramento State Hornets come to Pocatello on Saturday for a rematch with the Bengals, first serve is set for 7:00 PM as well.
Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available for both matches. The matches will also be broadcast on KISU 91.1 FM with Mark Liptak on the call.
Bengal Bites
· The Idaho State Bengals are sitting in 5th place in the Big Sky Conference Standings with a conference record of 2-3 and an overall record of 10-8. ISU is just one of four Big Sky teams that have broken the 10-game win mark this season.
· The Bengals have the third-best opponent hitting percentage average in the conference, holding opponents to .190
· Andri Dewey passed Sarah Kozlowski for eight all-time in the ISU record book for total assists. Dewey now sits at 2228 and needs 143 to pass Karissa Legaux for seventh all-time on the list.
· Emrie Satuala leads the conference in total-season hitting percentage, averaging .333 over 74 sets played. In conference, Satuala is hitting .404.
· Jamie Streit ranks 5th in the conference in service aces this season, averaging .36/set.
Quick Scout – Portland State
· The Big Sky leading Vikings are 10-7 on the season and 5-1 in Conference play. Coming off of wins against Montana and Montana State.
· PSU averages a .212 attack percentage and 12.7 kills per set while holding opponents to 11.8.
· Their strength comes in the attack while opponents outblock the Vikings 2.3 to 1.6 times per set.
· Sophia Meyers leads the Vikings with 3.62 kills per set and is also strong at the service line with 21 aces so far this season.
Quick Scout – Sacramento State
· This will be the second time that the Bengals and Hornets have met this season. On Sept. 24, the Bengals fell 3-0 to the Hornets in Sacramento. Idaho State only hit .100 for the math while at the net the Hornets were able to out-block the Bengals 11-4.
· The Hornets are 9-9 on the season and have a 5-1 Big Sky Conference record with a loss to Northern Colorado.
· Offensively, The Hornets are hitting .204 as a team averaging 11.8 kills per set while opponents are hitting .179 with 12.0 kills per set.
· Sac State excels at the net, with 2.5 blocks per set while opponents have 1.7.
