POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Bengals cruised to a 63-39 victory Tuesday night in Reed Gym. The highlight of the night came in the fourth quarter when Callie Bourne hit a fastbreak layup to pass 1,000 career points.
Bourne now becomes the 16th player in ISU history with over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
The Bengals (2-3) head into the weekend roadtrip with San Diego and CBU with a needed confidence boosting win.
How it Happened
It took a few minutes for the Bengals to get into rhythm in Reed Gym going down five points after 2:30 of play in the first. Once they settled in, the Bengals outscored the Orediggers 18-10 in the first led by Kacey Spink and Mia Flor's four points each.
In the second and third quarters the Bengal defense turned on, holding the Orediggers to nine points in each period, holding Montana Tech to only seven of 23 from the field.
Heading into the final period, the Bengals held a 51-31 lead over the Orediggers. The Bengals continued to press.
With 5:53 left in the game, Callie Bourne stole the ball from Montana Tech and put the fastbreak layup up and in for her career 1,001th point.
After subbing in, Bengal newcomer Cam Collman scored back to back three pointers to end the game with the Bengals' 63-39 victory.
