Gallery: (8-27-2022) Idaho State at UNLV
LAS VEGAS- The Idaho State football team lost 52-21 to UNLV on Saturday afternoon at Allegiant Stadium in front a crowd of 19,579.
Idaho State trailed 10-7 after the first quarter but a 35-point second quarter by UNLV put the game out of reach.
In the second half the Bengals outscored UNLV 14-7. ISU scored two second half touchdowns before UNLV scored with 5 minutes left in the game.
Trailing 10-0 in the first quarter,
Jalen Johnson scored the first touchdown of the game for ISU on a 55-yard touchdown pass from
Tyler Vander Waal. UNLV led 45-7 at halftime
In the third quarter,
Hunter Hays scored on a five-yard run with 3:04 to play to make the score 45-14. The scoring drive was a 10 play 52 yard drive that took 4:49 off the clock.
Early in the fourth quarter
Xavier Guillory scored on a 19-yard touchdown reception to make the score 45-21. UNLV added a late touchdown with five minutes left to go in the game.
Idaho State had 191 passing yards and 47 rushing yards. Vander Waal was 7-13 with one touchdown, one interception and 130 yards while
Hunter Hays was 7-12 with one touchdown and 61 yards passing.
Guillory led the Bengals with 73 yards receiving and one touchdown while
Jalen Johnson had 69 yards receiving and one touchdown.
DJ Hagler led the defense with eight tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss.
Idaho State has next week off before returning to the field on Sept. 10 at San Diego State. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. (MST). The Bengals then return home to host Central Arkansas on Sept. 17 in Holt Arena. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Season and single-game tickets are on sale at the Ticket Office. Call 208-282-FANS.Â

- DJ Hagler had a career-high 8 tackles.
- Calvin Pitcher tied his career-high in tackles with seven.
- Idaho State had seven sacks the entire 2021 season. Against UNLV the Bengals had five. Spencer Tatafu had two sacks and three tackles for loss.
- Freshman kicker Ian Hershey scored his first points as a Bengal with three extra points. He handled all kicking duties as he punted seven times for an averaged 46.7 yards and a long of 65.
