Pocatello, Idaho – After an intense 40 minutes of back-and-forth basketball, the Portland State Vikings defeated the Idaho State Bengals 48-47 Saturday afternoon in Portland, Ore.
The Bengals fall to 8-10 (3-4 BSC) on the year.
The Bengals held a lead for much of the 2nd half before the Vikings were able to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter capped by a three-pointer made with 1:53 left on the clock to secure the 48-47 lead.
The Bengals had multiple opportunities to take a lead in the final seconds but were unable to get their shot to drop.
Laura Bello had a strong game for the Bengals, scoring 11 points and grabbing 15 boards for her second-straight double-double.
Callie Bourne also posted a double-double, scoring 12 points with 12 boards. Kacey Spink rounded out the Bengals' scoring with 12 points on six-of-11 shooting from the floor.
The Bengals dominated the glass against the Vikings out-rebounding PSU 41-25.
The Bengals are back home next week to take on Eastern Washington Thursday at 7 and then the Idaho Vandals on Saturday at 1 for the ICCU Battle of the domes.
