Bengals Fall to Eagles in Reed



POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball fell short, falling to Eastern Washington 71-58 Thursday evening in Reed Gym.

The Bengals fall to 8-11 (3-5 BSC) on the year.

The game started with a 21-8 EWU first quarter where the Bengals were held to just three-of-15 shooting from the floor.

The Bengals didn't roll over though, storming back in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Eagles 18-13 led by Laura Bello and Callie Bourne's six points each where the Bengals shot 69.2 percent from the floor.

Headed into the locker room down 34-26, the Bengals didn't stop fighting. The two teams battled back and forth for the final 20 minutes of the game. The Eagles were able to score 37 points to the Bengals' 32 to ice the game and take the 71-58 victory.

Despite shooting 45.5 from the floor for the game, the Eagles were able to pull away with 46.9 percent shooting.

The Eagles also took advantage of their trips to the charity stripe. EWU show 17-of-20 from the free throw line while the Bengals hit just five-of-eight from the stripe.

The Bengals lost the battle on the glass 32-27, Bello leading the Bengals with six boards.

The Bengals are back home this Saturday when the Idaho Vandals come to town for the ICCU Battle of the Domes. Tip off is set for Saturday, Jan 28 at 1:00 PM MT.
