POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team's comeback effort fell just short Saturday afternoon as the Bengals fell to the Idaho Vandals 68-61.
After trailing by as many as 18 points, the Bengals mounted a furious offensive comeback, pulling to within three points, but were unable to bridge the gap and the Vandals pulled away at the end.
The Vandals were propelled by 12-of-29 shooting from the three-point line.
The Bengals dominated the glass, outrebounding the Vandals 52-36 but were unable to capitalize on second-point chances. Kacey Spink and Laura Bello combined for 23 rebounds.
The Bengals struggled from the field, shooting 23-of-72.
The Bengals get some much-needed rest this week, with only one game on the schedule, a Saturday, Feb. 4 matchup with the Weber State Wildcats in Ogden.
