POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State football fell to the Weber State Wildcats 33-21 Saturday evening in Holt Arena.
The Bengals and Wildcats fought back and forth in the first quarter with neither team able to break the stalemate with the Bengal defense holding strong.
In the 2
nd, the Wildcats were able to score twice before taking advantage of a surprise onside kick to drive the field again and go up 21-0.
The two teams went into the locker room with the Weber lead.
After trading drives to start the third,
Hunter Hays led the Bengals on a six-play 85-yard drive capped by a squirrelly 20-yard run by Hays into the endzone.
The Wildcats scored again and the Bengals took over with a 21-point deficit. After driving five plays,
Jordan Cooke launched 35-yard pass over the middle to
Cyrus Wallace for the touchdown.
The Wildcats were able to tack on five more points with a field goal and a safety.
After the Bengal special teamers blocked a punt, the Bengals took over with less than a minute to play.
Cooke rocketed the ball to
Alfred Jordan Jr. who dove into the endzone at the pylon and scored a touchdown in the final seconds of the game.
The Bengals lined up for two points and
Christian Fredericksen made a leaping, double-teamed catch in the endzone to complete the successful two-point conversion.
The clock hit zero and Weber left Pocatello with the 33-21 victory.
Notes
- The attendance of 8233 was the largest crowd in Holt Arena this season and is the 13th largest since the 2005 season.
- The Bengals ended with 324 total yards of offense
- Jordan Cooke passed the 2000 passing yard mark against the Wildcats Saturday evening and now sits at 2092 yards on the season.
