Pocatello, Idaho — Idaho State University athletics has announced that Citizens Community Bank will serve as the presenting sponsor of the ISU Match Point Club for the upcoming 2023 season.
Based in Pocatello, Idaho, Citizens Community Bank was established in 1997, with branches in Ammon, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Pocatello, and Chubbuck. In 2005, Citizens Community Bank became a division of Glacier Bank, which is owned by Glacier Bancorp, Inc., headquartered in Kalispell, Montana.
The $25,000 sponsorship will serve as the first ever in the history of the volleyball program which is coming off of one of its strongest seasons in recent years. Under the direction of first-year Head Coach, Sean Carter, the 2022 campaign saw the Bengals overcome a significant hurdle — earning a berth in the Big Sky Conference tournament — a feat that had not been accomplished since the 2018 season.
"Citizens Community Bank (CCB) is helping us accomplish something historic by stepping up to be the first ever Presenting Sponsor for the Match Point Club. Their gift will significantly elevate the experience of our student-athletes and will provide the program with opportunities we have never had, such as hosting tournaments, offering cost of attendance, and enhancing nutrition. What a wonderful investment CCB is making in our local community. We are incredibly proud and grateful," said Idaho State Director of Athletics, Pauline Thiros.
"Citizens Community Bank has always been a supporter of Idaho State University and their athletic programs. While we would love to cover all, this year we selected the volleyball team and have enjoyed the enthusiasm of the young ladies and their athleticism," shared Amy Rhoads, President and CEO. "We believe in being a partner in the community and enjoy that the coaches and assistant coaches at ISU have the same belief as we do. We look forward to watching the team play this fall. Go Bengals!"
This generous investment in one of ISU's rising programs will benefit the team in a multitude of ways. Areas of impact for this gift include: aiding in the cost of hosting a multi-team tournament, providing additional financial aid support via cost of attendance awards, enhancing travel accommodations, and offsetting the expense associated with purchasing new equipment. Similarly, support to the volleyball program's fundraising arm, the Match Point Club, will also assist in these efforts.
"As we continue to improve our programs and climb in the Big Sky Conference, friends like Citizens Community Bank are paramount to advancing our mission. This program is rising, and CCB will share in and celebrate that rise with the Bengals firsthand. We could not keep fighting without their support," added Thiros.
