New Fueling Station Opens To All Bengal Student-Athletes

Pocatello, Idaho – Idaho State University athletics has announced the opening of the Bengal Nutrition Fueling Station creating yet another advantage for all 15 NCAA Division I teams and placing the Bengals ahead of its peers.

Thanks to the generous support of Dairy West and local dairy farm families, this state-of-the-art space is located directly adjacent to the Jared Allen Strength and Conditioning Center as well as the athletic training room inside the ISU Sports Medicine Building. Serving as the distribution hub for all nutrition and dietary products for all 340+ student-athletes, this addition maximizes the work of ISU's sports dietitian, Natalie Christensen, and dietetic staff interns.

Director of Athletics Pauline Thiros is excited to offer this resource to Bengal student-athletes,  "The nutrition and recovery of our student-athletes is a big priority for us. The generosity of these committed partners is not only elevating the performance of our teams, it is safeguarding their health. No matter what time limitations they have between training and class, we know our students can get the right nutrition, and get it quick, before jumping to their next obligation. They work hard and they deserve the opportunity to fuel properly. We are so grateful to our partners for making the best nutrition program in the Big Sky Conference possible."

The Bengal Nutrition Fueling Station features a full line of BlackLabel Supplements products as well as various every day foods such as smoothies, fruit, bagels, sandwiches, string cheese, yogurt, trail mix, and granola bars among other options thanks to the financial generosity and in-kind gifts from countless groups including: Portneuf Health Trust, Harper's Homemade, Ridley's Family Markets, 5th Street Bagelry, Jamba Juice, Kate's Real Bars, and Coca-Cola.

"We are incredibly grateful to all of our community partners for supporting this fueling station. It will be instrumental in helping our athletes fuel and nourish their bodies around exercise," says Idaho State Univesity Sports Dieitican Natalie Christensen. "It creates a safe space that prompts athletes to prioritize caring for themselves in the midst of their intensely busy schedules. Oftentimes this leads to them seeking more nutrition information where I can really help them hone in on their individual needs."

In addition to serving as the main vehicle for powering the Bengals, the Bengal Nutrition Fueling Station has been specifically designed to educate Idaho State University student-athletes about nutrition and healthy eating habits while providing conveniently located dietary and nutritional support 24 hours a day to meet student-athletes demanding schedules.

Furthering the notion of food education and healthy eating habits, all Bengal student-athletes are provided the opportunity to participate in individual consultations, menu planning and meal coordination courses, and cooking classes.
