Pocatello, ID - Idaho State Soccer has had an encouraging start to the non-conference slate, including two shutouts from Big Sky Co-Player of the Week Trinity Hale in three matches across eight days of action.
After a trio of road games in Colorado and Boise to kick off the season, the Bengals are set to return home for an evening matchup against the Oregon State Beavers on Aug. 28, at 6:00pm at Davis Field.Â
The two orange and black schools are facing off for only the second time, and the first since the turn of the century, following a 0-1 barnburner favoring the Beavers in 1998.
Quick Scout - Oregon State Beavers (0-1)
-
Despite three scheduled games, the Beavers are only 0-1 on the year. Their season-opening matchup against Iowa was ruled a no-contest due to a weather-related cancellation before the 70-minute mark, the minimum requirement for a match to be considered official. The other non-tallied match was an exhibition against Trinity Western
-
The Beavers are also coming off of a 0-3 loss to the Montana Grizzlies in Missoula. The Griz were picked to repeat as Big Sky champions in the preseason polls.
-
Despite a small sample size, Oregon State is averaging six shots per game, led offensively by senior forward McKenna Martinez, a three-time All-Pac-12 selection
-
The Beavs are anchored defensively by junior goalkeeper Mya Sanchez, with 20 career saves to her name.
