Idaho State Football Press Conference 10/29/2025

POCATELLO, Idaho - Idaho State Football Head Coach Cody Hawkins sat down with local media to discuss the Bengals' upcoming game with the #6 UC Davis Aggies this weekend.

On the focus heading into UC Davis

"Our guys are confident in what we can do, but frustrated with what we haven't done, and that's clean up the details and finish games and score in the red zone."

On turning frustration into improvement
"If your frustration doesn't lead to a greater focus on the process, a greater focus on the details, doing something a little bit differently, then nothing changes."

On integrating redshirts over the final four games
"We don't want to just burn a kid's redshirt if he's not going to play a ton, but we do need to be cognizant of the workload. You'll see some younger guys get integrated, at the very least on special teams."

On returning to UC Davis
"It'll be a little weird to be on the other sideline, but I've been bleeding orange for a while now. I'm excited to play a game with our guys."

On why UC Davis has sustained success
"It's culture, resources, elite coaching, and continuity at a top-10 academic institution. Nobody in the Big Sky is going to beat Davis on a recruit."

On executing in critical moments
"We have to continue to find ways to execute when it gets tough, when things are stacked against us, when the moment is great."

On younger receivers getting involved
"You might see them get in the fold a little bit. We don't want to burn a year just because, but if we can get them some snaps, we'd like to."

On the road trip and maintaining focus
"It's our last outdoor game of the year and it's supposed to be cooking there. The best thing you can do for your family on a homecoming trip is represent well on the football field, and that takes great focus."
