POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Women's Basketball team took to their home court tonight against Montana State University. The Bengals were looking to avenge their earlier season loss to the Bobcats in Bozeman.
The Bengal defense began the game forcing the Bobcats three straight turnovers leaving ISU 6-0 to start the game, all scored by
Tasia Jordan.
The Bengal stretched their lead to 10-2 with the Bobcats answering with a 5-point run, cutting Idaho State's lead down to three, 10-7, at the first media timeout, coming with 4:36 to play in the 1
st quarter.
After the media timeout, Montana State would end quarter at a 12-4 run, taking a 14-19 lead into the 2
nd quarter. The first quarter would be riddled with turnovers, seeing both teams combine for 19, Idaho State finishing with 12 and Montana State with seven. The Bengals would stay in the game thanks to shooting 87.5% (7-8) from the field in the quarter.
In the 2
nd quarter, both teams would pick up the pace with the Bengals outscoring the Bobcats 20-19 in the quarter. The Bengals would head into the locker rooms at halftime trailing the Bobcats 34-38.
Tasia Jordan led all scorers with 13 points on 6-7 shooting from the field. Idaho State would finish the half out rebounding Montana State by 16, 20-4, however, they would finish the first half with 18 turnovers.
The Bengals would close the gap on the Bobcats, holding them to just 1-9 shooting, and outscoring them 8-5 to begin the 3
rd quarter, cutting their lead to just one, 42-43 at the first media timeout, coming to 4:29 left on the scoreboard. Following an MSU buzzer-beater three, the Bengals would find themselves trailing by three, 49-52, entering the 4
th quarter.
In the 4
th quarter, the Bengals would find themselves trailing 53-57 with 6:56 to go when the Bobcats would go on a 17-2 run over the next 5 minutes and 30 seconds, to give MSU a 16-point lead, 58-74, their largest of the game. The Bengals would lose the game by a final score of 60-74.
Tasia Jordan led the game in scoring for Idaho State, finishing with 19 points, on 9-12 shooting from the field, five rebounds, one assist, and three steals.
Piper Carlson put up 12 points on 6-10 shooting from the field, eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Kacey Spink put up 11 points, on 5-8 shooting from the field, 1-2 from deep, five rebounds, four assists, and leading the team with five steals.
Alyse Aby totaled five points, four rebounds, and one steal.
Sophia Covello would be the final Bengal in starter with two points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Maria Dias would play off the bench for ISU, ending her night with five points on a 2-2 shooting from the field, 1-1 from deep, one rebound, and one assist.
Nika Lokica, totaled four points on a 2-3.
Mackenzie Marenchin would contribute with two points and one rebound in four minutes of action.
The Bengals finished the game shooting 54 percent from the field, and 21.4 percent from deep, finishing just 3-14 from three-point land. Idaho State ended the game with 31 rebounds, 11 assists, and 10 steals.
Montana State finished the game shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point territory, going 10-25. The Bobcats would finish with 13 assists, 18 rebounds, and 17 steals.

nd, the Bengals will head south to Sacramento to face California State University, Sacramento at 3 PM MT.
