POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State Bengals (11-15, 6-9 BSC) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets 50-41 Saturday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif.
"After a double overtime game last Thursday we had just enough left in the tank to find a way to win an ugly game," remarked Head Coach
Seton Sobolewski. "We are proud of our team that they were able to find a way to win."
The game was a grind for the Bengals. Aside from a 2nd quarter surge that saw the Bengals score 21 points and jump ahead, Idaho State would only score 17 more points for the remainder of the game. The Bengals though were able to hold off the Hornets as well in the 2nd half, holding Sac State to also just 17 second-half points.
The Bengals shot 33.9 percent from the field on 19-of-56 attempts.
Kacey Spink led the Bengals in scoring with 12 points.
Tasia Jordan was the only other Bengal to score in double-figures with 10.
The Bengals and Hornets tied the rebound battle, both teams grabbing 34 boards in the game, the Bengals took a slight advantage with offensive boards, scoring nine second-chance points to SAC's two.
The two teams both scored 22 in the paint and the Bengals took advantage of 20 Sacramento turnovers to score 15 points.
