FARMINGTON, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced their Men's Tennis All-Conference teams and individual award winners Wednesday, Idaho State would be well represented on the list, having 5 different players see themselves get recognized for their hard work this season, after finishing 12-10 overall and 6-2 in conference play, good enough for the 2
nd seed at the Big Sky Championships.
Leading the way for Idaho State was
Valentino De Pellegrin. The junior out of Neuquen, Argentina was named to the All-Big Sky Singles First Team for the 2
nd straight season, as well as All-Big Sky Doubles Second Team with teammate,
Victor Sklenka. Freshman,
Luka Vujacic, was named as an All-Big Sky Singles Honorable Mention, and doubles teammates
Jowan Rawson and
Quentin Lamothe set the standard for doubles play across the conference this season, and were named to the All-Big Sky Doubles First Team.
Valentino De Pellegrin was one of four players unanimously chosen for the All-Big Sky Singles First Team, to go along with league MVP, Dani Torres (NAU), Tom Bittner (UM), and Henry Lamchinniah (SAC). This is the second straight season Valentino has been chosen for the Singles First Team, following his stellar 2023 freshman season where he was chosen as Big Sky Freshman of the Year. This season De Pellegrin would go 12-6 overall, and 7-1 in Big Sky play, with a 10-1 record in the #2 position, and 2-5 in the #1 spot.
True Freshman,
Luka Vujacic, out of South Perth, Australia, came onto the scene like a wildfire for Idaho State this season, wreaking havoc for the Montana's as he would get the dramatic walkoff win both times ISU played Montana State, and vs. the University of Montana. Luka would end his regular season with the best overall record in singles play out of the entire Big Sky Conference (11-1) and be one of just three players to go 7-0 in conference play. Vujacic would go a perfect 4-0 in the No. 5 singles matches, and 7-1 in the No. 6 singles position.
In doubles play graduate student,
Jowan Rawson, and junior,
Quentin Lamothe, were named to the All-Big Sky Doubles First Team. The tandem would set the bar for the entire conference this season, finishing with a conference best, 11-2 overall record, as well as being the only doubles team in the Big Sky to go a perfect 8-0 in conference play, all in the No. 2 doubles position.
The Bengal crowd favorites,
Victor Sklenka and
Valentino De Pellegrin, would end their season as All-Big Sky Doubles Second Team members. The Bengal pairing would finish the year with a 12-4 record in the No. 1 doubles position for Idaho State, going 4-2 in conference play.
