POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State defensive back Tre Shorty and kicker
Mason Lindberg have been named the Big Sky Conference Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week after the Bengals 29-16 win over Pac-12 Utah State this past weekend.
This is the first Big Sky Weekly Award for both of the Bengals in their careers at Idaho State
Tre Shorty – Defensive Player of the Week
TreShawn (Tre) Shorty turned in the signature defensive performance of Idaho State's 29-17 upset of FBS Utah State, intercepting two passes, including a 42-yard return that set up a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Shorty's second interception, in the final minutes, sealed the win. He is the first Bengal to record two interceptions in a game since Charles Ike against Cal Poly in 2022.
The Idaho State defense forced four turnovers on the night without committing one
Mason Lindberg – Special Teams Player of the Week
Mason Lindberg was perfect on the night, connecting on all five of his field goal attempts, from 28, 48, 25, 43 and 41 yards, as Idaho State knocked off FBS Utah State 29-17 on the road. His 48-yard field goal in the first quarter was a career best. Lindberg accounted for 17 of Idaho State's 29 points as the Bengals earned their first win over an FBS opponent since 2017.
