Ellsworth Earns First Bengal Athlete of the Week Nod

– Freshman forward Amanda Ellsworth has been selected as the Bengal Athlete of the Week for games played the week of Oct. 17 through Oct. 23. Ellsworth scored the game-winning goal to carry the Bengal soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Sacramento State in overtime on Oct. 20.

Ellsworth scored at the 97:01 mark, touching it past the keeper after a short cross from teammate Taylor Powell. Ellsworth's goal was her seventh of the season, the highest of any Bengal this season. She had four shots with two on goal in 91 minutes. Against Portland State, ISU's last game of the season, Ellsworth played 67 minutes.

As the Bengals end the 2011 soccer season, Ellsworth leads the team in individual game points with four, goals (2), shots (5) and shots on goal (4). She is also the season leader in points (15), goals (7), shots (40), and game-winning goals (3).

To top of her impressive freshman season, Ellsworth is tied for fourth in the all-time standings for goals in a season (7) and tied for fifth all-time in game-winning goals in a season with three. She is also tied for seventh in all-time points in a season with 15.

This is Ellsworth's first Bengal Athlete of the Week award and the second for women's soccer.
