ISU Tennis Continues Conference Play at Home

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State men's and women's tennis continue conference play, when they both face Sacramento State at home this weekend. The Bengal women play Friday, March 15, at 3 p.m. The Bengals men play Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BENGALS
ISU men's tennis defeated conference rival Weber State Saturday 5-2. This is the first time the Bengals have defeated Weber State since Feb. 14, 2006. ISU's win breaks a 13-match losing streak to the Wildcats and ISU is now 11-13 against WSU. It is the first time that Idaho State has started Big Sky play 3-0. (All-time results cover 2003-12).

ISU women's tennis earned its first win of the 2013 season on Saturday after defeating conference rival Weber State, 4-3. The Bengals improved to 1-2 in conference play. The win is the first conference win for the Bengals over Weber State in program history and the win came from four
singles victories.

BENGAL LEADERS
The Bengal men have been lead by freshman Christian Marian who is 4-2 in singles action. Marian and partner, freshman Jamey Swiggart, are 4-1 in doubles play at the No. 2 spot. Freshman Jamey Swiggart leads the Bengals in singles victories at 5-1 in the No. 4 and 5 spots. Senior Nate Gross is
4-2 in single play on the season in the No. 4 position. Krzysztof Stempien and Andres Coello lead the Bengals in double action, at 5-1 in the No. 3 spot.

In singles action, every ISU player has gained a win on the season. The Bengal women are led by freshman Kasey Bacon, who has gained three singles victories in the No. 2 spot. Marian Tangarife and Laura Theus have two wins.

PRESEASON POLL
The Bengal men finished fifth with 66 points with Sacramento State picked first (99), Montana were picked second (91), Eastern Washington picked third (74), and Weber chosen fourth (68).

The Bengal women finished eighth with 37 points and were selected above Portland State (28), North Dakota (27) and Southern Utah (11).

IDAHO STATE MEN'S TENNIS VS. SACRAMENTO STATE
Sacramento State leads the series 10-1. The last time these two teams met, the Hornets defeated ISU 6-1. The only Bengal point came from Krzysztof Stempien's single victory.
