Senior Charles Norman is the first ISU men’s tennis player since 2009 to be named POTW.
OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced Tuesday that senior men's tennis player Charles Norman has been named Big Sky Player of the Week for his performance against Sacramento State last Sunday. Norman is the first ISU player since 2009 to be named Big Sky Player of the Week. Javier Royo was the last men's player to earn the weekly honor. Norman has also been named Idaho State Bengal Athlete of the Week.

Norman helped the Bengals defeat defending Big Sky Tournament champions Sacramento State on Sunday, breaking an eight-match losing streak to the Hornets.

To start the match, Norman and doubles partner, Nate Gross, defeated No. 80 ranked duo Alaksandr Malko and Marek Marksoo 9-7, helping ISU to earn the doubles point.

Norman then went on to end his day on a good note, winning both sets 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match against Aliaksandr Malko.

Norman's efforts helped ISU improve to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in Big Sky action. The Bengals are just one of two Big Sky teams that remain undefeated in conference play. Norman is now 3-1 in conference singles as well as in Big Sky doubles.

ISU travels to Las Vegas, Nev., this week for the Las Vegas Tournament. ISU faces Southern Utah (3/23), Western New Mexico (3/23), UNLV (3/25) and Youngstown State (3/26) at the event. The Bengals next conference match-up is scheduled for March 28 against Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah at 10 a.m.
