BENGAL OVERVIEW

Bengal cross country hits the road for the first time this weekend, traveling to Provo, Utah for the BYU Fall Classic. Meet time is set for 10 a.m. at the Clarence Robison Track and Field Complex.

CARLY HANSEN
Freshman Carly Hansen has led the Bengals at their two opening meets this season. Against College of Idaho last weekend, she finished fifth overall with a 4K time of 16:26. As a team, the women fell 19-36.

BENGAL WOMEN TO WATCH
Hansen was followed by teammate transfer Abigail Ashbee-Simmonds in sixth with a time of 16:37, Katie Nicholls in seventh with 16:38 and Sasha Kent in eighth with 16:42.  Freshman Jasmine Nesbitt was the final Bengal scorer, finishing 10th with 16:55.

"I was pretty pleased with the women's team, even though they got beat," said Head Cross Country Coach Brian Janssen. "They ran really solid. We are really, really young on the women's side."

RAY MILLER
Senior Ray Miller led the Bengals to their first win of the season with his second place finish and 5K time of 19:35. Miller finished first among collegiate competitors. As a team, the men won 21-38.

BENGAL MEN TO WATCH
Sophomore Dylan Refaey followed Miller in third with a time of 19:53. Junior KC Hunsicker finished sixth with 20:17, freshman Andrew Kaler was seventh with 20:20 and freshman Ty James was the final scorer in eighth with 20:24. Sophomore Jacob Campbell also finished in the top-10, ninth overall with a time of 20:31.

"I was proud of the men," said Head Cross Country Coach Brian Janssen. "It maybe wasn't out best effort overall, but I thought they did pretty good. This is a young team, there's only one senior. Things are going pretty good for them. I'm pleased with how we ran today.

BENGALS IN THE PRESEASON POLL
The women's team was picked to finish fifth in the Big Sky Preseason Coaches' Poll last week. Two-time champion Weber State was picked to finish first. The men's team was picked to finish seventh. Northern Arizona was the unanimous first-place selection. The Lumberjacks have won the past six Big Sky men's cross country championships.
