POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State fell 5-2 to Montana in Big Sky women's tennis action Sunday.
Montana swept the doubles point when Haley Driver and Precious Gbadamosi defeated
Marian Tangarife and
Laura Theus 8-4 at No. 1. Sasha Carter and Laurence Pelchat defeated
Svenja Tegtmeier and
Wiebke Boeckmann 8-3 at No. 2 and Ashley Mackey and Maddy Murrey defeated
Kasey Bacon and
Madelyn Weltzin 8-5 at No. 3.
Montana then won three straight singles matches to clinch the win. At No. 3, Carter defeated Tegtmeier 6-2, 6-1. At No. 1, Driver defeated Tangarife 6-2, 6-1 and at No. 4, Pelchat defeated Weltzin 7-5, 6-2.
Bacon got the first win for the Bengals at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-7(1-7), 1-0 (10-2) victory over Gbadamosi.
Theus defeated Anabe Carbo-Estruch 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 for the second Bengal win.
Mackey defeated Boeckmann 7-6(7-5), 6-3 at No. 5 to end the match with a 5-2 Montana advantage.
The Bengals are 4-11 overall and 1-4 in Big Sky play.
