Live StatsPOCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team is back at home for its final match of the season. The Bengals host Weber State Friday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. at Davis Field. The match will also serve as Senior Day for ISU's four seniors:
Lauren Bermudez,
Vanessa Cabilan,
Sheridan Hapsic and
Whitney Peterson. Prior to the match, each senior will be introduced and honored alongside visiting family and friends.
SCOUTING WEBER STATEWeber State is 9-8-1 overall this season with a 3-3-1 mark in Big Sky conference play. The Wildcats clinched a spot in the conference tournament Sunday following their 1-2 OT loss at Northern Arizona.
The Wildcats return 16 letter winners and eight starters from last season's team that finished 5-13-1 overall with a 2-7-1 conference record.
Weber State is led by senior forward Mackenzie Harrison, who has six goals and four assists on the season, as well as junior midfielder Chansi Crompton who has nine assists and three goals on the season. WSU currently averages 1.56 goals per game with a .440 shots on goal percentage. The Wildcats average 13.4 shots per game with a .116 shot percentage.
Weber State is coached by Head Coach Tim Crompton who is in his 12th season and carries a 93-113-27 overall record.
LAST MATCH: ISU SOCCER DROPS 4-2 DECISION AT SOUTHERN UTAHThe Idaho State soccer team was defeated by Southern Utah 4-2 Sunday afternoon in its final road conference match of the season. Although the Bengals matched their conference-high in goals with two, they were unable to combat two Thunderbird goals in both the first and second halves.
Idaho State (1-16-1, 0-9-0 BSC) fell behind early following SUU (8-8-1, 3-5-1 BSC) goals in the eighth and 14th minutes. The Thunderbirds fired off six shots in the first 14 minutes, but he Bengals locked down on defense and prevented the Thunderbirds from scoring on seven additional attempts for the remainder of the half. ISU secured the field for the remaining 10 minutes and left the pitch for halftime facing a one-goal deficit.
Following the break, the Thunderbirds extended their lead by two goals as they scored in the 61st and 82nd minutes. ISU was able to offset SUU's two goals, as junior forward
Ka'imi Morreira rebounded senior defender
Vanessa Cabilan's blocked shot and connected for her first goal of the season. Idaho State was unable to overcome the two-goal deficit and fell to Southern Utah 4-2.
