Cross Country's Ty James Named U.S. Bengal Athlete of the Week

James advanced into the top 15 with a strong final 2K push. He finished the race in 15th place in a field of 84 racers with an 8K race time of 26:25.8.  

His finish was the best of all ISU runners and led the men to a top-five finish among the 12-team field. James has finished first among the ISU men's runners in three of five races thus far while finishing second for the Bengals in the other two.

This is the first time that James, a junior, has been honored as the US Bank Bengal Athlete of the Week. James joins Katie Nichols, who was honored in September, as the only other cross country athlete to claim the award during the 2015-16 season.

The ISU cross country teams are back in action Nov. 13th at they travel to Albuquerque, N.M. to race at the NCAA Mountain Regionals. The two top finishing teams at regionals receive an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships Nov. 21 in Louisville, Ky.
