Bengals Finish Season vs. Weber State

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team closes out the 2016 season on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2:30 p.m. in Holt Arena against Weber State. Jerry Miller and Mark Liptak will call the action on 102.5 with the pregame show starting at 1:35 p.m. Live stats, video and audio are available at isubengals.com.  

Series vs. Weber State
Weber State leads the series 40-14. The Bengals are 8-19 vs. Weber State in Pocatello and 6-21 against the Wildcats in Ogden. Last year the Bengals lost 35-14 in Ogden and in 2014 Idaho State won 46-28 in Pocatello. Prior to the 2014 win, Weber State had won 11 straight games, with Idaho State's last win being 34-0 at Holt Arena.

About Weber State
Weber State is 6-4 overall and 5-2 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats are averaging 380.5 yards a game while holding opponents to 383.9. Weber State quarterback Jadrian Clark has thrown for 2,505 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. WSU has run for 1,287 yards on the ground. Andrew Vollert is the top receiver as he has caught 51 passes for 667 yards and five touchdowns. Cam Livingston has caught 49 balls for 485 yards and four touchdowns. Landon Stice leads the defense with 89 tackles, eight tackles for loss and one interception. Tre'von Johnson has 84 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Senior Day
Saturday is the final home game for 16 seniors. Playing their final game is:

Strength in Linebackers
The linebacking group of Hayden Stout, Mario Jenkins, Joe Martin are once again the leaders of the Bengal defense.  All three are ISU's leading tacklers this season with Jenkins leading the way with 93, Martin 80 and Stout 70. Stout led the defense with 113 tackles last year and with the return of Jenkins, who had 120 tackles as a redshirt freshman in 2014, the linebacking core continues to lead the Bengal defense. The Bengal linebacking trio has recorded an interception in five straight games.

Youth Movement
This year 44 freshmen and sophomores have seen the field for ISU in some capacity over the course of the season. Of the 44 players, 23 were either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Meanwhile only 28 juniors or seniors have seen the field this year. Of the 28 juniors and seniors, four were playing Division I football for the first time at their current position  (Pat Carter at wide receiver, Lorenzo  Terry, Tom Jewell and Clark Jeppesen (did not see any action at Utah State). Another nine have missed games or have been lost for the season due to injury.

Bengals in The NCAA and Big Sky Rankings
- Tanner Gueller ranks 22nd in the nation in completions per game at 22.50. That mark ranks fifth in the league.
- Mario Jenkins is 32nd in the nation in tackles per game at 9.3. That mark ranks No. 3 in the Big Sky.
- Sean Cheney ranks 8h in the nation in punting and third in the Big Sky at 43.2 yards a kick.
- KW Williams 10 receiving touchdowns ranks 10th in the nation and third in the Big Sky.
- KW Williams 5.6 receptions per game ranks 34th in the nation and seventh in the Big Sky.
- Tanner Gueller's 17 touchdown passes ranks 22nd in the nation and fifth in the Big Sky Conference.
- Idaho State ranks second in the nation in red zone offense and first in the league. The Bengals have scored 23 times on 24 attempts.
