POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team fell to visiting Idaho 6-1 Friday afternoon at the Reed Gym Tennis Courts.
"It was a tough battle today against a very good Idaho team," Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "We played solid in doubles but were unable to convert the big points. In singles play, we needed a bit more variety to keep our opponents out of the strike zone. We continue to learn and grow every match."
Idaho (11-6, 7-1 BSC) took the doubles point, defeating Idaho State (7-10, 5-4 BSC) 6-3 at No. 1 doubles and 6-4 at No. 3 doubles to take the doubles point.
In singles play, the Vandals took five-of-six matches. Idaho State's
Louise-Mare Botes earned the Bengals' only win of the day with a three-set battle at No. 2 singles. Botes bested Idaho's Jessica Brzozowska 3-6, 7-6 (11-9), 10-6 for the win.
Idaho State returns to play Saturday, April 15 against Eastern Washington at the Reed Gym Tennis Courts. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
