Women's Basketball Hosts North Dakota Thursday

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State women's basketball team returns home this weekend to host two Big Sky Conference games, beginning with North Dakota Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.

BENGALS PREVIEW

· The Bengals picked up their first conference win in commanding style, defeating Northern Arizona 75-55 in Flagstaff, Ariz. on Jan. 6. Junior forward Grace Kenyon led the attack with 18 points off 7-of-11 from the floor while Brooke Blair and Dora Goles also finished in double-figures with 14 and 12 respectively. The Bengals shot 45.8 percent from the floor and dominated the 'Jacks inside with a 34-12 advantage in the paint.

· Through 14 games, the Bengals are averaging 71.3 points per game shooting 44.0 percent from the floor, good for third in the Big Sky, and a conference-best 40.2 percent from three. ISU averages 41.6 rebounds per game with a conference-best +8.6 rebounding margin to go along with 7.2 steals per game and 15.6 assists per game. The Bengals also boast a conference-best +9.8 scoring margin.

· Idaho State is led in scoring by Blair at 14.0 points per game. Two other Bengals average at least 10 points: Grace Kenyon, 11.5 and Estefania Ors at 10.2. Sai Tapasa and Saylair Grandon are close behind at 9.9 and 9.7 per game respectively.

· Tapasa leads the rebounding effort with a 7.3 per game average while Kenyon averages 6.9 per contest.

· HOLDING THEIR OWN….NATIONALLY: As of Jan. 9, the Bengals rank sixth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 40.2 percent, and senior guard Brooke Blair leads the nation in the same category with 50.7 percent accuracy from long range.

SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA

· The Fighting Hawks are 8-7 overall on the season with a 1-3 mark so far in Big Sky play. North Dakota opened conference play 0-3 with losses at Idaho, at Eastern Washington and against Montana before defeating defending Big Sky Champions Montana State 79-70 on Jan. 6.

· Through 15 games, UND averages 68.6 points per game while giving up 67.7 points per contest. The Fighting Hawks are shooting 39.1 percent from the floor and 31.5 percent from long range, and they average 42.5 rebounds per game.

· Lexi Klabo leads the Fighting Hawks in scoring at 19.1 per contest, good for sixth in the conference. Fallyn Freije also averages double figures with 14.8. Both Klabo and Freije also lead the Fighting Hawks in rebounding with 9.5 and 8.5 respectively.

· UND also averages 4.6 blocks per game, good for second in the conference.

· The Fighting Hawks are led by Head Coach Travis Brewster who is in his sixth year at the helm of the program.

· SERIES REVIEW: North Dakota leads the overall series 8-3, and the Fighting Hawks have won four of the last five matchups. In the last game, UND bested the Bengals 63-56 in Grand Forks.
