Women's Basketball Faces Utah Tomorrow Night

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State will face Utah in Salt Lake City tomorrow in its final game before the Cancun Challenge later this week. This will be ISU's second game against a Pac-12 opponent this season; the Bengals played Arizona in their second game.

Mark Liptak will call the game on KISU 91.1 FM and stretch internet with pregame coverage beginning at 6:40 p.m. Fans can also listen to the game on ESPN 700 or watch and follow the live stats.

The Bengals have faced the Utes 30 times with just one win. The last time Idaho State bested Utah was Dec. 8, 2010. ISU won 71-58 in an overtime game played in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Last Time Out

- The Bengals played Gonzaga last week and fell 70-51 in Spokane, Wash. Saylair Grandon led ISU in scoring for the second-consecutive game with 12 points and added three assists. Sai Tapasa and Estefania Ors each had eight points, and Madison Hinrichs and Grace Kenyon were close behind with seven and six points respectively. Tapasa led ISU with six rebounds.

-Grandon is the only player averaging double-digit points for the Bengals though Kenyon (9.3) and Ors (9.0) are not far off the mark. Grandon, Ors and Tapasa are all averaging five or more rebounds per contest.

-Eight players have made appearances in all three games with the starters doing the heavy lifting; the starting five all average at least 25 minutes of play and Callie Bourne (24.3) is the only player off the bench with more than 17 minutes per game.

-Next up for the Bengals is the Cancun Challenge. ISU plays Kennesaw State Nov. 22 and Georgia Tech Nov. 23. The team will finally return to Reed Gym Nov. 29 against Benedictine University at Mesa.

-Idaho State is averaging 56.3 points, 35.0 rebounds, 10.7 assists, 6.3 steals, 2.0 blocks and 18.0 turnovers per game. They have shot 36.8 percent from the field and 25.7 percent from three.

-The Bengals were picked to finish third in the Big Sky Coaches' Preseason Poll and fourth by the media.

-Head Coach Seton Sobolewski is in his 11th season with the program and carries a 172-144 overall record. He has led the team to two postseason tournament appearances: one NCAA tournament berth and one WNIT tournament appearance.

Scouting Utah

-Utah is undefeated this season with wins against Nevada, Alabama and Long Beach State. The Utes face two Big Sky opponents this week with a road game against Eastern Washington following their game with ISU.

-Megan Huff has tallied 19.3 points per game by shooting 46.8 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from three. Edwards Dre'Una, Provo Daneesha and Gylten Dru all average double-figure points. Edwards is currently averaging a double-double with 10.3 rebounds per game while Huff is just shy with 9.7 per game.

-As a team, Utah has shot 43.9 percent overall and 28.1 percent from beyond the arc. They also have the fifth-highest free throw percentage in the nation at 86.4 percent.

-The Utes have generated 76.0 points, 47.0 rebounds, 14.7 assists, 9.0 steals, 4.3 blocks and 15.7 turnovers per game.

 -Lynne Roberts is in her fourth year with Utah with a 55-44 record. She holds a 276-219 career record.
