Women's Basketball Returns To Reed Gym Thursday

POCATELLO, Idaho –
After a long stretch of games on the road, Idaho State women's basketball is finally returning to Reed Gym this Thursday. The Bengals host Benedictine University at Mesa for the Field Trip Game with the tip set for 11 a.m.
 
-The matchup with the Redhawks will be the start of the longest home stand ISU has all season. The Bengals will play in Reed Gym during their next five games though there is a three-week hiatus between the third and fourth games in that span.
 
-The game can be streamed on Watch Big Sky TV or Pluto TV channel 243. Mark Liptak and former player Freya Newton will call the game on KISU 91.1 FM and Stretch Internet. Live stats will also be available here.
 
Last Time Out
-Idaho State fell to Utah on Monday before traveling abroad for the Cancun Challenge. The Bengals split a pair of games in Mexico with a win over Kennesaw State and a loss to Georgia Tech.
 
-Grace Kenyon led all players with 13 points and 6.0 rebounds per game last week. She shot 40 percent from the floor and was 8-10 from the free throw line while adding a team-high 11 assists. The senior was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts.
 
-Madison Hinrichs was the only other player to average double figures while shooting 47.4 percent overall. Saylair Grandon and Sai Tapasa were close behind with 9.0 points and 8.3 points per game respectively. Grandon added 10 assists and five steals while Tapasa collected 18 rebounds.
 
-Callie Bourne averaged five points and added 15 rebounds, eight assists and six steals over her first three starts. Ellie Smith posted career highs in points (10) and rebounds (6) against Utah on Monday night.
 
-In the Cancun Challenge, two players showed glimpses of their full potential. In her first career start, Delaney Moore had a standout performance against Kennesaw State with career highs in rebounds (10), assists (5) and blocks (3). The following day, Montana Oltrogge sank three long balls for 10 points in just 12 minutes of play.
 
-The Cancun Challenge brought an end to the extended road series for Idaho State. The team finished 2-4 during that stretch.
 
Idaho State
-Kenyon and Grandon lead all players with 22.9 of ISU's 56.7 points per game. The senior tandem has also combined for 36 assists and 16 steals on the year. Add Tapasa to the equation and the three combine for 17.3 of the team's 34.8 rebounds per contest.
 
-Estefania Ors and Hinrichs each average about nine points per game though both missed time last week. The depth of the team has gotten stronger with Smith, Oltrogge and Bourne starting to find their rhythms.
 
-ISU holds a 38.2 percent field goal percentage and a 29.5 three-point field goal percentage this season while shooting 68.6 percent from the charity stripe. Opponents are shooting 40.1 percent overall and 36.6 percent from behind the arc when facing Idaho State. The team generates 56.7 points, 34.8 rebounds, 12.8 assists, 6.0 steals, 2.2 blocks and 18.7 turnovers per game.
 
-The Bengals were picked to finish third in the Big Sky Coaches' Preseason Poll and fourth by the media.
 
-Head Coach Seton Sobolewski is in his 11th season with the program and carries a 173-147 overall record. He has led the team to two postseason tournament appearances: one NCAA tournament berth and one WNIT tournament appearance.   
 
Scouting Benedictine University at Mesa
-Benedictine, an NAIA member of the California Pacific Conference, is 2-2 this season after winning its last two games against Life Pacific College and Ottowa University - Arizona. The team is 1-0 at home and 1-2 on the road.
 
-The Redhawks have several contributors on the offensive front with seven players averaging more than five points per contest. Rebecca Herrera is the clear leader with 12.3 points per game. She is shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from three-point range. Herrera also leads the team in offensive rebounds (8), assists (11) and steals (7).
 
-Juwanna Milton and Grace Russell each average about 8.5 points per contest and lead the team with 6.8 and 6.3 rebounds per game respectively.  Both players shoot better than 40 percent from the field and play heavy roles on defense as well. They are tied for the team lead in blocks with four apiece and have combined for 10 steals.
 
-The Redhawks are shooting 38.7 percent overall and 27.5 percent from three this season. They have struggled at the free throw line with just a 53.5 percent conversion rate. Meanwhile, opponents have a collective 37.3 field goal percentage and 27.2 three-point percentage against Benedictine Mesa.
 
-The Redhawks average 64.8 points, 43.5 rebounds, 14.3 assists, 11.0 steals, 3.0 blocks and 22.8 turnovers per game. The team is coached by Brian Hutchins who is in his third season with the program. He has compiled a 35-25 record during that time with a 19-9 record in conference play.
