POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team hits the road this week, beginning with a 12 p.m. game at Northern Colorado Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Bank of Colorado Arena in Greeley, Colo.
BENGALS PREVIEW
· Idaho State closed the weekend with a 66-39 win over visiting Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon. SUU's 39 points are the lowest allowed by the Bengals against a Big Sky opponent this season.
· Through 21 games, the Bengals are averaging 71.4 points per game shooting 44.6 percent from the floor to lead the Big Sky, and 36.2 percent from three to rank second in the conference. ISU averages 39.1 rebounds per game with a +6.2 rebounding margin to go along with 7.4 steals per game and 14.9 assists per game. The Bengals also boast a conference-best +10.4 scoring margin.
· Idaho State is led in scoring by Blair at 14.0 points per game.
Grace Kenyon,
Estefania Ors and
Saylair Grandon also average double-figures for the Bengals at 12.2, 10.6 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
· Kenyon leads the rebounding effort with 7.0 rebounds per contest while
Sai Tapasa adds 6.6. Grandon is the only other Bengal to average at least five rebound at 5.1 per game.
· Head Coach
Seton Sobolewski is in his 10th season with the program and carries a 164-138 overall record (.543) and has led the team to two postseason tournament appearances: one NCAA tournament berth and one WNIT tournament appearance.
SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
· Northern Colorado sits in a three-way tie for second in the Big Sky Conference with Idaho and Montana. The Bears are 16-6 overall with an 8-3 mark in conference play. UNC three losses came at Weber State, at North Dakota and against Idaho.
· Currently, the Bears average 69.0 points per game while holding their opponents to an average of 64.5 points per game, good for fourth in the conference. UNC is shooting 44.5 percent from the floor and 33.7 percent from three, and the Bear average 31.1 rebounds per game and 15.0 assists per game.
· Two players average double-figures for Northern Colorado, led by Savannah Smith at 17.5 points per game while Savannah Scott averages 16.9. Kianna Williams leads the rebounding effort with 5.6 per contest.
· Northern Colorado is led by Head Coach Kamie Ethridge who is in her fourth season with the program.
· SERIES REVIEW: Idaho State leads the all-time series 19-8 and carry a 9-3 advantage in Greeley. In the last meeting, UNC defeated ISU 63-57 in Pocatello.
