Golf Signs Tyler Erickson and Tya Seth

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's golf program has signed Tyler Erickson from Soda Springs, Idaho and Tya Seth from West Linn, Oregon to National Letters of Intent.

"When (assistant coach) Greta (Carlson) and I met with both of these young ladies, we felt like they would be a perfect fit for our program," Idaho State Head Golf Coach Dallen Atkins said. "These two easily set themselves apart from the rest both on and off the golf course.  When we went out recruiting, we were obviously looking for girls that could light it up on the golf course.  But we were also looking for girls that had unmatched drive and motivation to compete and win at the highest level as well as a positive personality that would fit in with our team.  These two have that for sure!"

Erickson prepped at Soda Spring High School where she helped lead her team the IHSAA 2A District 5 championship as a sophomore. Erickson is a two-time state champion and as a freshman she finished second. She placed first at the Rocky Mountain Junior Tour and second in the Utah Junior PGA Series at Bountiful Ridge.

In 2017, she placed first at the IGA Juniors District 3 Tournament at Jefferson Hills with a two day score of 151 and she followed that up with a third place finish at the 2017 IGA Juniors State Tournament with a score of 153.  Erickson was also selected to represent Team Idaho at the America's Junior Cup in Salem, Ore.

Seth prepped at Lake Oswego High School. In 2016 she competed at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach and Poppy Hills. She won the Play it Forward Award (Oregon Sports Awards) during the 2016-17 year and was a medalist in 2017 at the Three Rivers League District Tournament. She finished as the sixth ranked player in the Three Rivers League.

Seth tied for third place at the Mount Hood and Three Rivers League Regional tournament and she finished 11th at the 2017 6A Oregon State championship. At the Bandon Dunes she shot a -3 on the front nine to place fifth in stroke play and go on to win first flight. Seth also shot a -7 to win the inaugural The First Tee Gearhart Cup.

As Atkins wraps up his first year as head golf coach at Idaho State he is excited about the addition of Seth and Erickson and the future of the program.

"As a team, we have some pretty high goals and aspirations for the next few years," Atkins said. "These two were willing to buy into this program and the direction we are going.  Like I have mentioned before, the future is bright for ISU women's golf.  With our team that will be returning in the fall and the addition of these two, we feel we are going to start becoming a force to be reckoned with."
