POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's basketball team defeated the Montana Tech Orediggers 83-57 on Monday night in Reed Gym.
The Bengals shot 49 percent from the field and 90 percent from the free-throw line (10-11). They recorded 32 rebounds, 21 coming from the defensive side.
Callie Bourne led the Bengals with a career-high 20 points, going 9-12 from the field and securing a team-high eight boards, one assist, and two steals. Ors put up 13 points, going 5-9 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line. Ors also had seven boards.
Montana Oltrogge came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points off four three-pointers.Â
Irene Vicente had a season-high nine points and was 5-6 from the free throw line.
Diaba Konate had a career-high six assists followed by
Dora Goles tying her season-high in assists with five.Â
The Bengal defense started strong by jumping out to a 17-0 lead in the first seven plus minutes of the game. The Orediggers didn't get their first basket until the 2:14 mark of the first quarter. Idaho State led Montana Tech 20-6 after one quarter.Â
ISU had a 15 point lead at 31-16 in the second quarter after a three-point play by Ors with with 4:34 left in the first half. Montana Tech cut the Bengal lead to 12 at halftime at 38-26. Montana Tech shot 71 percent from the three-point line in the first half to keep up with the Bengals.Â
The Orange and Black shot 56 percent (20-36) in the second half and 44 percent (4-9) from the three while holding the Orediggers to just one three-pointer (1-7).
The Bengals led 57-41 early in the second half and led by as many as 28 points at two different points in the final quarter.
Idaho State travels to Orem, Utah to face the Utah Valley Wolverines on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. (MST). The game will feature live stats, video, and audio brought to you by
