Bengals Return Home to Host Dixie State and UC Davis

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State soccer returns home this weekend after its road trip in Hawaii to host Dixie State and UC Davis. First up is Dixie State on Friday, Sept. 3 at 7:00 PM MDT. Then Sunday, Sept. 5 UC Davis comes to Davis field to face the Bengals at 11:00 AM MDT.

Live Stats will be provided for both matches and both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ and on KISU radio.

Quick Scout and History Dixie State

·        The Trailblazers are 2-2 following a 3-0 shutout win over North Dakota state this past weekend.

 

·        The Trailblazers are averaging 11 shots a game and 1.50 goals per game.

 

·        Kalea Woodyatt and Kelsey Cook both lead the team with two goals scored and Woodyatt is averaging a .750 shot on goal percentage

 

·       Kayla Gonzales has played the most minutes in goal and has 14 saves with 3 goals allowed and a 2-1 record.

 

This will be the second time that the Bengals and Trailblazers have faced off.

In 2019 at Davis Field, the two programs battled to a 1-1 tie in double overtime to keep the series 0-0-1.

·        The aggies are 2-2 on the season following a 3-2 win over the University of Texas - EL Paso this past weekend. The Aggies also have a win against New Mexico.

 

·        UC Davis is averaging 17 shots per game and 1.50 goals per game. with a shot on goal percentage of .382. The aggies are holding opponents to 12 shots per game.

 

·        Two Aggies are tied with two goals apiece Leslie Fregoso and Emma Vane. Fregoso leads the team with 17 total shots and .353 shots on goal percentage

 

·       Nicki Rucki has played all four games for the aggies in goal with 9 saves and 7 goals allowed.

Previous Match vs North Texas

Idaho State soccer fell to the University of North Texas 4-1 in Honolulu, Hawaii Sunday evening.

 

Five minutes in to the match, the Mean Green fouled ISU setting up a free kick for Karlin Wurlitzer who proceeded to setup Deborah Pond for her first official goal as a Bengal.

 

The Orange and Black held off UNT for the next 35 minutes before UNT was able to net two goals in the 40th minute.

 

In the second half, the two teams continued to battle before UNT scored its third goal of the match in the 56th minute.

 

The two squads remained scoreless until the final minute of the game when UNT snuck in a goal to finish the match 4-1.

 

McKayla Wetsel had seven saves facing 21 UNT shots, just one shy of tying her career record.
