POCATELLO, Idaho – After weeks of hard work and practice the Idaho State Bengals finally head to Bozeman, Mont. for the 2022 Big Sky Conference Indoor track and field championships. The meet will take place Thursday, Feb. 24 through Saturday, Feb. 26.
"The indoor season has flown by," said Director of Track and Field Hillary Merkley. "Both teams have put in a lot of work and have started to really dial things in the past couple of weeks. They are ready to have some fun and give it their best this weekend. I think it will be a great meet to watch so I hope People will tune in on ESPN+." Â

Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. (or end of pole vault), 2:45 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Bengals to Watch
After a strong indoor season, the Bengals are primed to compete at the championships this weekend.
In the women's weight throw, Destinee Rose-Haas leads the conference. At the 2022 Stacy Dragila Open Rose-Haas threw a conference leading 67' 0.75".
The Bengals hold the top-two spots in the women's pentathlon. Ashley VanVleet-Sturgis and Brianna Hagler are ranked one and two in the event. VanVleet-Sturgis is looking to repeat from her 2020 indoor championship.
Collin Dylla is looking to win the men's 800m. Dylla ran the 2nd best time in the conference this season at the Alex Wilson Invitational, 1:49.73 just four tenths off of the first place time. The time earns Dylla the 7th best time in the Idaho State record book.
The Bengal high jumpers are ready to compete. On the men's and women's sides two Bengals are ranked in the top-five in the conference. Kylee Dimick and Kapri Sylvester are leading the way for the women. Michael Shulikov and Owen Mitchell are both in the top-four in the Big Sky Standings.
The women's pole vault will be decided between the Bengals and the EWU Eagles. Both squads lead the top-five in the conference standings. Brooke Anger and Lindsey Jones-Sagendorf both have recorded top-four marks this season in the event.
On the men's side, Tyler Valenzuela is sitting in fifth in the standings.
Not only are they strong in the multis, the sister duo of Ashley VanVleet-Sturgis and Brianna Hagler are in the top-five jumpers in the Big Sky. VanVleet-Sturgis is sitting at fifth in the long jump and Hagler is fourth in the triple jump.
Zack Ramos has exploded on the men's throws scene this season, winning four meets in the men's shot put and is currently ranked No. five in the Big Sky.
USTFCCCA Event Rankings
USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings places a rank order to a program's "squad" of athletes in a particular event, using the cumulative season-best qualifying marks from a team's top-four ranked athletes on the national descending-order list. As with the national descending-order list for qualifying and seeding purposes, marks are subject to be converted due to track size and/or altitude. A team must have four or more athletes with a valid season-best mark recorded with TFRRS to achieve a ranking in a particular event.

The Bengal high jumpers rank 1st in the Big Sky and 17th in the NCAA.
The men's pole vault team is sitting at 2nd place among big sky schools
The Bengal throwers are showing their muscle, ranked 2nd among big sky schools and 30th in the nation. In the shot put and 2nd in the Big Sky in weight throw.
Women's Rankings
Coming in as the top contenders and the No 10 squad in the nation is the ISU pentathlon squad.
The ISU women have the No. 3 spot in the Big Sky 400m standings.
The Bengal women lead the Big Sky in the 5,000m rankings
Idaho State high jumpers are holding down the No. 1 ranking in the Big Sky and are 24th highest in the NCAA.
The women's pole vault squad is sitting at No. 2 in the conference and 29th in the nation.
The Bengal weight throwers are ranked 2nd in the Big Sky heading into the Championships.
Team Rankings
In the weekly conference rankings headed into the championships the Bengal women are holding down the No. 2 spot in the conference behind NAU and in front of Idaho.
The men's team is ranked 5th in the conference in front of Southern Utah and just behind Weber State
