Bengal Comeback Falls Just Short in 73-68 Loss to Bobcats

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball fell just short in their game against Montana State on Thursday evening. The Bengals (13-8, 9-3 BSC) fell 73-68 to the Bobcats (13-8, 8-2 BSC) in Bozeman.

In the first half, the Bengals came back from 15 down in the final three minutes of the half, outscoring the Bobcats 12-3 to head into the locker room down 39-33.

The Bengals would come out with intensity and take the lead in the game with 7:11 left in the 3rd after an Ellie Smith jumper.

The Bengals would hold onto the lead until the Bobcats retook it with 5:03 to play in the game. The next five minutes turned into a back and forth, physical affair with neither team able to grab and hold onto a lead.

The Bobcats would ice the game with a three pointer with 0:16 left on the clock and close out the game for the 73-68 victory.

Tomekia Whitman led the Bengals with her second double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Estefania Ors and Diaba Konate also had double-digit games.

The Bengals were just edged out on the glass 36-34 by MSU and the Bobcats shot 32 free throws to ISU's 17.

The team is back on the court Saturday, Feb. 5 taking on the Montana Grizzlies in Missoula, Mont. At 2:00 PM MT.
